|
Mayor Anne Krassilowsky of the City of Dryden and Mayor Kathy Poling of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout have challenged each other and their respective communities to fill the rink for two upcoming SIJHL Hockey Games in the month of November. The Dryden Ice Dogs will play at home against the Sioux Lookout Flyers on Tuesday, November 10. Likewise, the Sioux Lookout Flyers will play the Ice Dogs in Sioux Lookout on Saturday, November 14. The community with the highest attendance for their home game will win the challenge.
It has been agreed that the Mayor who loses the challenge will travel to a home game in the opponent’s town/city where she will wear the opposing team’s jersey and drop the puck at the beginning of the game in honour of the community winning the challenge.
States Mayor Poling “This is a great way to promote junior hockey in our two communities. Hopefully this challenge will create an even greater level of excitement for the sport within the region. I know that Mayor Anne is a fierce competitor and I say game on. Bring it!!!!”
Mayor Anne Krassilowsky’s response: “Okay Folk’s you have heard the challenge! Mayor Kathy is a very worthy opponent and I say…Right back at you Mayor Kathy, Bring it on!! We are hockey communities and Hockey involves the whole family..so let’s get together and support our youth, the game and our communities!”
Game time in Dryden is 7:30 pm and puck drop in Sioux Lookout is also 7:30 p.m.
Both Mayors wish the best of luck to each other and their respective communities!
