SLMHA 2022-2023 Season Underway

Published: September 15th, 2022

The 2022-2023 season of the Sioux Lookout Minor Hockey Association (SLMHA) is officially underway in our community! 136 participants are currently registered in six divisions from Under 7 (born in 2016 and younger) to Under 18 (born in 2005-2007). Check out the regularly scheduled ice times, tournaments, and special events on the SLMHA website:

Skaters of all abilities are welcome to join the SLMHA. Registration closes on October 15, 2022. No players can join after that date. All participants in the SLMHA must be registered with Hockey Canada. A link to the registration form is posted online:

The Assist Fund offered by Hockey Canada can help Canadian families by offering up to $500 in registration subsidies for players (including those already registered) who qualify for funding. Visit their website for more information:

Hockey families may also be eligible for the local P.R.O Kids (Positive Recreation Opportunities for Kids) program; phone the Municipality of Sioux Lookout’s Recreation Department for more information: 737-1994 |

An exciting partnership between the SLMHA and The Sioux Lookout Bombers is developing this season. On September 5, several goalies from our community learned directly from the professionals; the Sioux Bombers Head Coach and their 3 goalies led participants through a series of fun drills. Tryouts for the U11 AA Sioux Lookout Junior Bombers take place September 17 and September 18.

The SLMHA is offering a $200 rebate on registration fees for any goalie that plays an entire season (U9 and up). Goalie gear is available for all age levels and can be lent out to families for the season.

Please consider giving back to your community by joining a dedicated team of volunteers including division conveners, coaches, trainers, managers, referees, and on- ice helpers. People can contact SLMHA Communications Convener, Mike Laverty with any questions or help with the registration process:, phone/text 738-1948, or message Sioux Lookout Minor Hockey Association through Facebook Messenger.
