U7/U9 Goalie Clinic. Oct 24, 4pm to 5:15pm.
Published: October 2nd, 2020
Saturday, October 24. 4pm to 5:15pm The amount of participants is limited to (12) goalies and is first come first serve. The amount of goalies will also depend on how much gear is lent out to parents/caregiver.
Participants must be able to skate on their own. Only advanced skaters from the U7 will be permitted on the ice.
Goalie equipment can be signed out by a parent/caregiver. Any equipment that is signed out will stay with the participant until requested by the association.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up. Please state the participant’s name, experience as a goalie (and hockey in general), and if you have any goalie equipment.
All participants and their caregiver will wear a mask when in the building. Goalies will wear their mask when not on the ice. Participants will be assigned a dressing room.
Each goalie will undergo an equipment check to teach the importance of not only wearing the right gear, but wearing it the right way. Goalies will have the most fun wearing equipment that fits them properly and lets them focus on the puck instead of their gear.
The ice will be divided into 4 fun stations that will teach new skills and build confidence. The coaches running each station/drill will shoot the puck at a speed that matches the goalie's abilities.
Each station helps goalies learn the basics of goaltending:
2) Catching Pucks/Using the Blocker.
3) Tracking/Following the Puck.
4) Movement (shuffle and c-cuts)
